CHCH close-up!

When I hurried to the bus station couple of days ago a stunning view made me halt immediately: in the clear morning sky you could see in the far distance the snowy tips of the southern alps enthroned over the green summer/autumnly farmfields! Incredible!
But leave it to that, what I wanted to post today was me and steffis sunday trip to CHCH city centre or a closer look at the "Red Zone".

Everywhere in nz you find such fantastic climbimg trees, I don't know why the trees
here are so cool formed .. but everytime I pass one there's this feeling of climbing it!
(Hagley Park - huge park in the city centre)
Wishing eucalyptus tree in the botanical garden
Christ's College - old very british looking boarding school
watch out for a flashback when entering the dining hall
>> Hello Hello Hogwarts.

The Red Zone is a fenced in area almost all around the whole city centre. damaged buildings entrance is prohibited. It is too dangerous to enter the zone. Since one year no one's allowed into that zone, even people who lived there or shopkeepers. In the shop windows you could see all the last year's advertisments and gig announcements, posters etc.. even the last year's fashion can be studied.

The area behind this fence is completely abandoned. Only construction workers are allowed in. Many buildings are gonna be demolished, ditto the Cathedral, for which CHCH was famous for.
But no way the citizens give in >> a flourishing new shopping and food scenery arose right beside the fenced "red zone",for a all new "re:START", fondly called "Container City":

The whole street is packed with different coloured containers on each side, providing space for cafes, clothing, fast food, etc. and it's bursting full of life and creative actions: bands fill the city with sound, empty spaces are filled with art and cultural and gardening projects ... people reconquer their public space!
